With restrictions being lifted I’ve had to resume work with the agency which is why I didn’t post this last week since it wasn’t a priority. Short of DJs my first week back I was faced with the prospect of telling my clients that I may not be able to resource their venue’s. Not on my fu£king watch, we managed to pull it off like socks.
What pi55ed me off however was the number of DJs who were hedging their bets by holding out for more lucrative gigs elsewhere which they're entitled too. This made for a challenging start to the week, I hope for their sake that they continue to be afforded work from the venues and promoters concerned. Meow.
This episode got me thinking. We’re all guilty of myopic thinking. It’s easy, it serves an immediate need or impulse, no sacrifice is required. I think the trick is to reframe such thinking where it’s just as easily done as said. Ideally you want to cultivate the habit of having your future self, thank you. There are a few things as horrifying as being in a situation where you pose the following to yourself, if I’d have known and there’s fuck all you can do about it.
So ask your future self, will they be happy with the decision you’re about to make now.
