With Kobe Bryant being inducted into the Hall Of Fame by none other than Michael Jordan this weekend, I’m reminded of his legacy. It’s hard not to since his book Mamba Mentality is permanently etched on my coffee table. Besides being one of the greatest to ever play the game of Basketball, what resonates with me was that he was a life long learner.
Despite being the number one high school Basketball player in the country, he spoke multiple languages, scored 1300 on his SATs demonstrating that he was capable of attending an Ivy league school, then goes on to achieve a twenty year career in the NBA with one team, a record and five NBA Championships. I could go on. Not one to rest on his laurels he was intent on his future exceeding his past. Fucking hell.
He showed that expanding your learning is critical to your success.
Every skill you acquire doubles your odds of success
Despite there being important things to do now I’ve got one eye on the future in mind for the imprint. It’s difficult because I’m not seeing much return for my efforts NOW but if I keep playing, I say playing because my job ain’t a job it’s a damn good time I’m confident the play will pay off providing I exercise the following:
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
By the way we tried to upload a track Blinding Jesus The Hwen Rascale Mashup from A Bunch Of Deckheads Vol 12 on Soundcloud but they weren’t having it. You can listen to it on the link below. You’re welcome.
